REMEMBERING TOMIE on August 18, 2020

Tomie returned to the stage in Charles Massey’s Newport (NH) Opera House production of “State Fair” in May, 2005. He was a pickle judge - an intoxicated pickle judge, i.e., a pickled pickle judge. Tomie discovered that he couldn’t memorize his lines. But, he used a clipboard as a prop so he could write his lines on the clipboard. Charles padded Tomie’s role so that he was on stage longer than was intended in the script. Because of the problem remembering lines, Tomie said it was his return to the stage, and also his farewell from it. (Bob)
