Tomie liked to draw Pierrot and he liked to dress up as Pierrot (more accurately stated, he dressed as Pierrot at least once). The drawing is the cover of the presentation booklet when Tomie was honored with the Kerlan Award from the University of Minnesota in May, 1981.
