Today is National Bird Day. Tomie loved drawing birds - stylized birds - in illustrations, doodle pads, large paintings, small paintings, everywhere.
I think he would have enjoyed the news articles this weekend about bird-watcher crowds flocking to a Maryland park to see an unusual sighting, so far north, of a painted bunting.
