REMEMBERING TOMIE on February 3, 2021

Tomie was asked dozens, maybe hundreds, of times to contribute drawings and artwork without compensation.

He knew that I felt he was often being taken advantage of, and would try not telling me about the requests until the artwork needed to be shipped, or there was a problem with the request.

As he got older, and was having trouble completing book work, it was more of an issue that he couldn’t say “no.”

This drawing for the International Reading Association was a freebie in the mid-1980s. (Bob)
