Tomie was Creative Director of his own imprint, Whitebird Books, at G. P. Putnam’s Sons in the early 1990s.
The focus was folktale and the goal was to give new artists and authors opportunities.
Over a dozen books were published, including QUAIL SONG, written by Valerie Scho Carey, and illustrated by Ivan Barnett, and THE LITTLE SNOWGIRL, written and illustrated by Carolyn Croll. (Bob)
